1999 WESTERN STAR, STRAIGHT TRUCK & PUP TRAILER.

Powered by a 600 hp. Caterpillar Diesel Engine.

24,000 lb. capacity front steering axel, with air bag over spring.

Behind the steering axel, (behind cab) is a Neway, air lift axel.

The drives are a full driving tri-axel configuration. The first drive axel is suspended by Neway air ride, while the middle & rear drives are on hockey puck suspension.

The pup trailer has 3 solid axels in the rear, with the fourth axel in the lead, an air lift. (Neway)

The empty weight of the unit is 27,450 kg's (60,515 lbs) The licensed gross weight runs at, 63,500 kg's (140,000 lbs)

Included in this is a Serco, 8,000 Model, self loading unit. (with the drivers assistance of course.) The loader is equipped with a small seat and controls for the operator, that rides about 15 feet above the ground. Now, there are a lot of good drivers out there that can handle the driving end of the operation, BUT, there are not to many that can sit on that little seat, 15, feet off of the ground, swinging and controlling the loading procedure at the same time. In this case we have an exceptional operator. I know, because we have worked together in the past.

FABTEK FORWARDER, by JOHN DEER.

Powered by a John Deer 4 cylinder engine & drive train.

The unit carries approximately 3 cords in the bunk.

It can also act as a loader for trucks, not equipped for self loading.

SELF LOADING PROCEDURE

Loading at Hog Valley, just South of Penetang.

From the ground, it does not seem like much, but it is a different story while you are sitting up there and being thrown around by the lift, and at the same time, set it in the proper loading position. Remember, if it is not placed properly, it's your butt that is on the line. Weight wise, and safe wise.

LOADED AND READY TO ROLL.

DOMTAR PULP AND PAPER, at ESPANOLA, ONTARIO, CANADA.

DOMTAR'S, PULP UNLOADING & STORAGE YARD,

AT ESPANOLA, ONTARIO, CANADA.

A 988 CATERPILLAR LOADER.

The Cat's grappler lifts huge amounts of logs at a time.

It makes short work of the unloading task.

This Domtar plant is less than an hours drive from my home in Elliot Lake, Ontario.
