Terry Wilson is the son of Sam Wilson whose life story is featured in this web site. Like father, like son, trucking is in their blood. Terry has an electrical business on the side but hauls for Lefebvre and sons trucking in his spare time. Lefebvre is a specialized carrier who hauls mostly cement sewer pipe and over sized pre-cast cement pieces. There home office is located In Elk River Minnesota With branches all through out the Midwest. Terry Drives out of the Waukesha Wisconsin shop on a part time basis. Unfortunately the pipe company that makes up the majority of there work in Wisconsin was bought out and has shut the doors after being in the area for over 100 years.
TERRY........ I do strongly believe in that you have to do what you love, so since that damn trucking is my blood, I haul for them. In the summer I do drive a lot of hours, but in the winter I only fill in when ever they need an extra driver. Since I'm only part time I get what ever truck is available. That is why I some times drive the white one and other times the red and black ones.

The photos above where taken in Peosta Iowa, in January of 2007 (Peosta is located 25 miles west of Dubuque Iowa) I was hauling pre-cast wall panels from Thomson Ill to a job site that was located in Peosta. The trip from Thomson Ill to Peosta Iowa was 78 miles on a narrow two lane road and usually we where able to make three trips a day. The panels where originally bought by the state of Illinois for a new women's prison that was to be built next to a brand new maximum security prison. The money for the prisons was allocated, but the money to transport the prisoners wasn't. The main prison did get built in 2003 but to this day it still sits empty. With the lack of money the state decided not to construct the smaller women’s prison and instead put it up for auction

The guy who
bought all of the panels had very good luck or very good business sense. Because
when the auction came up he decided at the last minuet to personally go to the
auction instead of bidding on the internet. This turned out to be a very wise
decision. Because as the auction was to start, the Internet part of the auction
went down .The auctioneer said it was to go on either way. There where only two
other people present who where some what interested in getting the wall panels.
Later I was told by the contractor who was hired to load them, That the state of
Illinois had originally paid over 14 million dollars for the panels and the
customer who had the winning bid paid $4,000 There were enough to construct two
buildings, Half of them we hauled to Peosta Iowa for a warehouse that he was
constructing. And the other half we hauled to another job site that was 38 miles
away in Belleview Iowa which is located over the Mississippi river.

These pictures are of a very narrow two lane bridge, that we had to use in order to get to the Belleview, Iowa , job site. You had about 8" of clearance between mirrors when meeting an on coming truck.

During this past summer Lefebvre kept me in the same truck that I really liked. Unfortunately, while I was delivering an over sized load to Chicago, the motor popped a piston. The shop found out that it was a defect, so Caterpillar paid to have it rebuilt. After the truck came back with the new over haul they for some reason elected to trade it in. I told them If I would have known they where going to do that I would have bought it. Nice truck!!

Lefebvre haul both over size cement products and sewer pipe. sewer pipe takes a lot to learn and is a lot harder to un load, You have to be careful when rolling them off the trailer and not to crack the pipe. |
