Visits Switzerland For An Annual Truck Show

Mark went to the TRUCK & COUNTRY FESTIVAL in Interlaken, Switzerland. It was a huge festival on a former military air base, featuring about 1800 trucks. It was held on the last week-end of June / 2007.

We in North America, and perhaps other parts of the trucking world may have never heard of Switzerland's famous truck show, including myself. This page is a generous contribution by my friend MARK MANDERS of THE NETHERLANDS. His photos of the event will certainly expand our view of trucking in other parts of the world.

The first group of photos will give you an idea of just how huge this show is.

(Photos Top Left & Right) This great looking rig is owned by an Owner/Operator from Switzerland.

His custom trailer was built in France by Chereau.

(Lower Left Photo) A MAN Tractor pulling a low bed (float) with a small crane from Zumker in Frutigen.

(Lower Right Photo) A MAN straight truck from Schmutz in Thun. These special trucks are for cleaning the streets and sewage systems.

This next group of nice looking Scanias belong to RHT Transport. They specialize in Refrigerated & walking floor equipment.

F. MURPF AG

F. Murpf is a classical family business, which grew since its beginnings step by step, and is now one of the largest trucking companies in Switzerland.

SGT Is a transport company located in St-Germain, Quebec, Canada.

Through their generosity, they have donated this unit to GLOBETRUCKER to help provide free educational material to needy schools in remote parts of the world.

VOLVO

They just can't stay away from a Volvo, it's like bears being drawn to honey.

--- BELOW IS A GROUP OF RANDOM PHOTOS FROM THE SHOW ---

A special notice  for the LRN Transport, a brown VN-VOLVO. (Photo Right corner, top row) The driver is an Owner/Operator from Sweden. He drove almost 3,000 km to be at the truck show in Interlaken, Switzerland. (Photo Left corner top row) Nice looking Sisu from Addor in Gstaad, the elite area in Switzerland. Elisabeth Taylor of movie fame, and Bernie Ecclestone from the Formula 1 circuit are living there.

These 2 sharp looking Scania's are owned  by Martin Wittwer from Wattenwil.

They haul logs, lumber and also provide low bed transport in Switzerland.

This truck is from Dreier in Switzerland. The custom trailer has a double deck floor and loads 53 pallets.

These 2 SISU trucks are from Finland.

SISU offers customers complete and ready to use trucks direct from the factory, with all options installed. The customer takes delivery of the truck from the factory, registers it, and begins to operate the new vehicle.

This company, Interspan Tschopp AG predominantly works  with remainder wood (splinters, Sägemehl, hogged wood, energy shred, crust, etc.). The transportation of these goods themselves are implemented at the same time.

For the transportation, different special vehicles are in use, depending on the given situations a specialty vehicle, such as suction vehicles, thrust plate vehicles, etc. are put in service.

(Photos, Top Left & Right)

A NOTE of curiosity;  The weird brush on the top rear of truck is for washing down the ceiling of the tunnels in Switzerland. (Photos lower Left) A line up of PFISTER trucks from Bern. (Photo Lower Right) A line up from Steiner Trucks.

An excellent time was had. Great displays as well as entertainment, will mean a return trip to another show in the future.
