The photo on left is the hill that the loaded trucks do their drag races on. It's an uphill pull all the way.

LET THE RACES BEGIN --------

WHY DO SOME BLOW HEAVY BLACK SMOKE, AND OTHERS DON'T? --- YOU ASK.
(ONE ANSWER IS) --- Some drivers in competition will open up the pump (fuel) and over fuel the engine to gain more power. (creating black smoke). Others will step on that heavy horsepower; skip to higher gears prematurely and lug it up to higher speed, (creating heavy black smoke) while the second truck goes through every gear, losing time with the extra shifting, but with little smoke.

There is another reason that the smoke gets really heavy, and that is to blow an engines' turbo charger, or other internal parts, such as shown in the photos below.

|
