A grain hauler unloading into a silo in Manitoba. --- An auger transfer pipe mounted on a farm tractor is positioned with the receiving end under the trailer's hopper and driven by it's power takeoff, sending the product to the top of the silo for storage.

A tourist checks out the beef on his trip. And yes, those old Dodge trucks just keep hanging in there.

Grain silos abound on the prairies, and everyone still needs to fuel up; a necessary evil.

When entering the granite hills, and forests of Northern Ontario everyone has to be continually  aware of accidentally starting fires.

The dangers and loss can be horrendous.

Next, a stop at the Weyerhaeuser Paper Mill in Dryden. Mark caught up to a Trimac "B" train hauling wood chips. He followed the driver over to the unloading rack where they had a unique way of removing his load in just a few minutes.

These video clips are of Trimac, unloading a "B"-Train load of wood chips for the paper mill at Weyerhaeuser Paper Mill in Dryden, Ontario, Canada. At this time they are in a choice of 2 formats, that of Windows Video Player, and Real Player. If you do not have one of these players, you may get them here; click on the title of choice below.

I must apologize for my lack of knowledge, for I am a trucker, and not a cyberspace specialist. This video business is all new for me. I would appreciate any comments on its workings, good or bad so as I may expand my knowledge on this subject. --- Thank you Diesel Gypsy

Thunder Bay is the first major city you come to, (eastbound) in Ontario. The cattle haulers have to stop here at the feeding station on their cross country haul to rest, feed, and water the animals.

From Thunder Bay, Mark heads south-east on highway 17 along the Lake Superior route. The photo on the right is the Pic River bridge which has a tight turn as you come off it at the bottom of the hill. There were many trucks lost on that curve, until they blasted rock and banked the turn to make it safer.  Some trucks hit the bottom of the hill too fast for the curve, and end up losing it.

Wawa, half way down the Lake Superior route, is a mining town (iron) and rest stop for travelers.

Just coming into Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and if you look over your shoulder you will see the north-west bound road sign.

Next stop, Elliot Lake to spend a couple days with the Diesel Gypsy.

A stop over in Elliot Lake, and then on to Manitoulin Island for a trip across the lake to south-western Ontario, and the Fergus Truck show.

Mark's ferry boat trip to Tobermory was on the last sailing of the day. midnight. He could not get any photos of the ship, so I have substituted photos of my own from one of my previous daylight crossings.

Off loaded and on his way

NEXT STOP, ---  THE FERGUS TRUCK SHOW.
