Has upgraded his DAF-480 Super Space Cab to, a new DAF XF SUPER SPACE CAB

The new interior, and accessories are even more impressive than the previous DAF 480.

The interior space has, lots of standup room, a second bunk, and Extra compartments for storage, as well as an entertainment centre, and a navigation system.

Exterior Photo, shows the high-rise over the drivers head, acting as an air foil. Inside the high rise portion is equipped with extra storage compartments.

Left Photo shows the drivers compartment, the Right, is of the passenger, or second driver seat, and in the Centre, this great looking Land Yacht, the DAF XF.

The Left Photo shows the clean, and easy instrument display. As equipped in all first class yachts, the Centre Photo shows the NAVIGATION SYSTEM (How could you get lost with equipment like this). The indispensable CB, coupled with the dreaded Electronic Tachograph above it, are shown in the Right Photo.

In Europe this device is a necessary evil that is controlling the driver 24 hours a day. In Canada we now have the option of using this type of spy ware, or to stay with the standard log book. In the past, big brother (The government) for some unknown reason, figured that all the drivers must have been cheating on their log books. In their great wisdom, it was decided to incorporate a foolproof electronic spy, so as to keep the drivers under control.

Normally Bert hauls containers from several European ports, to customers in Holland, Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany, France, Denmark, Switzerland, Italy and Spain.

He does this with his own trailer. It can be stretched or shortened in length from 20' to 30', 40' and even 45 ft. With this trailer he never has to switch because of lengths. It handles all the different container sizes, saving valuable time.

The odd time Bert will haul a Tautliner, delivering bits and pieces around Spain, then pick up various orders for his return trip to Holland.

A sample trip, would be carrying a 40 foot container to Burgos in the North of Spain. It being only 1,000 miles from Rotterdam, and by leaving Sunday night at 21:00 hrs., he would usually be home by Thursday around 15:00 hrs.

If in your European travels, should you come across Bert on the CB, his handle is "Hijo de la Luna" (son of the moon in Spanish)

This Super Space Cab is powered by a 530 hp, power plant hooked up to a AS-Tronic 12 speed gear box. More than enough power to cruise leisurely, (on land of course) and not even break out a sweat.

Captain Bert, and his personal luxury land yacht, the D.T. DAF.

It would be hard to come up with anything nicer.

Van Spelden Trucking had it's start in 1993, and has progressed steadily ever since. With Captain Bert at the helm, there is no end in sight. Their growth can only advance with time.

WOULD YOU EVER THINK THAT THE WORLDS LARGEST YACHT (Cruise Ship) WOULD HAVE ANY EFFECT ON BERT'S LAND YACHT?

Well for a time, it did. The ship visited Rotterdam, which was 20 miles from his location. From where he took this photo it was only 4 miles to his home. That 4 miles took 3 1/2 hours to travel, because of the heavy, curious traffic.

With that kind of travel, you cannot afford to be paid by the mile.
