Highway 401, February 01, 2007, Cobourg, Ontario, Canada

Just east of Toronto, and north of Lake Ontario on the 401 highway  a snow storm had created a white out. This section of highway has had these conditions in previous years. One trucker lost his life in this accident while others barely escaped the devastation. The random photos below will show the during and after effects of what happened this day.

The green  power unit with the flat bed trailer  loaded with lumber, was involved in the initial impact with another vehicle which resulted in chain reaction.

After cooling the unit, the above group of photos show the removal of residual gasoline from bottom of all compartments by OIL SPILL CONTROL SERVICES personnel before separation of tractor and trailers.

The trailers were then separated from the power unit and loaded onto flatbeds for transport off site.

Next, shows the tractor being loaded onto flatbed for transport away from scene.
